Here is a daily devotional that we are doing

Hey River City family—today we begin the road to Easter.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds were shouting, waving branches, celebrating like a king had arrived. And He had—but not the kind they expected.

Scripture: Matthew 21:9 (ESV)

“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

They wanted a political savior. Jesus came as a suffering Savior.

Here’s the tension: we often want Jesus to fix our circumstances…

but He came first to fix our hearts.

He didn’t ride in on a war horse—but on a donkey.

Not to conquer Rome—but to conquer sin.

So the question today is simple:

Are you following Jesus for who He is… or for what you want Him to do?

Prayer:

Jesus, help me to receive You as You truly are—not as I imagine You to be. Be King of my heart this week. Amen.
